Accelerating the technology of stopping is our business. Thats why Haldex was the first company to offer a
single-valve trailer ABS system (FFABS) that complies with FMVSS 121, and was on the cutting edge of ABS even before the NHTSA mandate in March of 1998.
Haldex offers a full line of air braked, commercial trailer ABS products to meet every application and requirement:

Purpose:
ABS (Anti-Lock Brake Systems) are designed to improve vehicle control and stability through electronic management of service braking to avoid wheel
lock-up, during all types of braking conditions, and on all road surface conditions.

Operation:
The primary components of ABS are electronic
control unit (ECU), solenoid operated air valves (ABS Modulator Valve), and
wheel speed sensors (Sensors). The inductive Sensors are mounted at designated wheel ends in conjunction with exciter (notched) rings. The ECU (or Brain) reads electric impulses generated from the rotating exciter, as the wheels turn. The ECU has been designed to recognize when the rate of wheel speed deceleration is approaching
wheel-lock (no longer rotating) which would result in skidding. During a braking event, the ECU continuously monitors the rate of deceleration so that it can intervene into the operation of the ABS Modulator Valve(s) to maintain stability during braking.

When the rate of deceleration approaches
wheel-lock the ECU sends electrical signals to the ABS Modulator Valve(s) to reduce air pressure to the service brake chambers which reduces braking

When the rate of deceleration returns to a level above the
wheel-lock threshold the ECU sends electrical signals to the ABS Modulator Valve(s) to increase pressure to the service brake chambers which increases braking
|

This iterative process of decreasing and increasing braking takes place in milliseconds
and continues as long as the deceleration rate is in jeopardy of
wheel-lock to help assure vehicle stability |

Haldex Brake Systems has introduced to the North American trailer market their next-generation ABS product, which includes the utilization of power line carrier (PLC) technology to accommodate a single tractor-to-trailer electrical connection.
The three current Haldex ECU platforms will now be combined under (1) PLC ECU which will continue to operate using Haldex patented SLH (select low-high) software. Additional features of the new PLC platform Trailer ABS product include:

The Haldex PLC ECU includes a feature enhanced PLC Plus platform. With PLC Plus, the customer can begin utilizing the Trailer ABS ECU to enable and manage multiple monitoring and control auxiliary functions for various preventive maintenance, warning and operational features to improve productivity and lower cost of ownership. Depending on the customers specifications, the feature rich PLC Plus ECU offers optional capabilities such as : Back-up Alarm Control, Lift Axle Control, Lining Wear Sensing, Low Reservoir Warning, Door Ajar, Temperature Warning, and others, virtually limited only by imagination.
